and Data Centers as well as approaches and options that should be looked into when
designing new spaces or Data Centers to ensure that they are clean and organized
day one and have the infrastructure in place to maintain it into the future.

At this time I would like to ask anyone who is interested in running for a position to please reply to this message and tell me what position you are interested in running for and submit a short paragraph telling why you are interested and what you intend to accomplish for the chapter if you are chosen. You can run for more than one position.

I will accumulate the responses and we will post another online vote within the next couple of weeks. We are using the online voting process for two reasons: 1) it does not take valuable time out of our meetings, and 2) we seem to get a better response.

For those who are not familiar with the officer positions, they are:

Vice-President

Treasurer
Webmaster/Public Relations

• I threw out the “texting while driving” idea (variations were offered for using a calculator or drunk goggles)
• Cassie mentioned a Duck Hunt and I don’t know what all that entailed but it has a catchy name

I think there were others but I can’t think of them now.

2010 Robert Half Technology/AITP Scholarship Applications NOW being Accepted!
Robert Half Technology and the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) will award two $2,500 scholarships to two outstanding AITP Student Members pursuing studies in Information Technology. Each scholarship will be awarded based on demonstrated academic achievement, leadership activities, community service and future career interests. The winners will be recognized at the 15th Annual AITP National Collegiate Conference in St. Louis during the Awards Banquet on Saturday evening, March 27, 2010. Applications should be emailed to rhtscholarship@aitp.org and please include “RHT Scholarship” in the subject line. Submission deadline: February 25, 2010. Also, we have a few things I meant to send out last week about the NCC and forgot about:

• I want to personally encourage all members to consider participating in the AITP National Collegiate Conference March 25-28. If you don’t know what that is, you can visit http://www.aitp.org/ncc to find out more.
• If you are interested in attending we also want to encourage you to consider participating in one of the competitions being offered. You can check out http://www.aitpncc-contests.org/ for more information.
• If you have a contact in a local business that you think might be interested in being a sponsor or exhibitor, please talk to them to see if they would be interested in supporting / meeting the top IT students from all over the country. If you find someone who’s interested, let us know and we’ll handle the rest.
• We also want to know if you’ve been participating in any service activities that we can mention when applying for SOFAC funding to help pay for the trip. Let us know what you’ve been up to and we’ll even feature you on the website.

On a final note, the position of treasurer is open, so please attend tomorrow’s meeting if you are interested in filling that position. We look forward to seeing you there!

This is not your typical “Disaster Recovery” Presentation!

The meeting is intended to provide suggestions and ideas for improving the IT disaster preparedness and business continuity plan of any organization. The structure of the meeting will begin with a short presentation which will lead into an interactive discussion of a disaster scenario. The participants will be asked to consider the scenario in regards to their business and team up around the table to provide answers to questions to help frame the recovery process. The intent will be to provide actionable items that the participant can take back and apply to their own DR plans.
