Public Affairs Week 2017 kicks off at Missouri State University on Sept. 9 and runs through Sept. 15. The university will host events to introduce this year’s theme: Sustainability in Practice: Consensus and Consequences.
“Most events during Public Affairs Week are structured toward facilitating the student discussions around the year’s public affairs theme,” said Stacey Trewatha-Bach, coordinator of public affairs special projects.
Sept. 11
Keynote speaker Dr. Eboo Patel will present “Better Together: Bridging Interfaith Barriers” at 7:30 p.m. in the PSU Theater.
Sept. 12
Patel will present “Our Common Life: Sustainability through Interfaith Connections” at 11 a.m. in the PSU Theater. Both presentations will award the first 100 students with a copy of Patel’s book “Interfaith Leadership.” A book signing will take place after both speeches.
Sept. 13
The university will host a U.S. Citizenship Naturalization Ceremony at 10 a.m. in the PSU Theater. Attendees of this event will witness 60 applicants become U.S. citizens. Attendees can learn about The Journey of a Naturalized Citizen at 8:30 a.m. in the PSU East Ballroom.

Other highlighted events
The Hunger Banquet – Sept. 11, 5 p.m., PSU East Ballroom. An annual event that will allow students to explore the global effort to better the world’s food systems.
Living stories: Sustainability – Sept. 14, 4-6 p.m., Meyer Library second floor. New this year, students can schedule face-to-face conversations with trailblazers of sustainability in practice.
All events are free and open to the public.
Visitors may pay to park in metered lot 14 located near the corner of National Avenue and Bear Boulevard, just west of the Davis-Harrington Welcome Center.
