Recent coverage of the Republican and Democratic National Conventions is yet another reminder that the general election is soon approaching. As an institution with a statewide mission in public affairs, we urge our students to become informed and engaged voters. Please help us by encouraging your student to register to vote.
Students can register using a variety of methods. On campus, students can visit the Reference and Government Information Desk in Meyer Library. A voter registration form can also be mailed to students by calling the Dean of Students office at (417) 836-5527.
Students also have the option of registering to vote at the office of the local election authority or at any Department of Motor Vehicles office. (The previous links will help you locate these offices in any county in Missouri. For other states, please visit the Voting and Elections page at USA.gov for further info.)
If your student is already registered to vote in your home county in Missouri, he or she can learn about options for absentee voting on the Missouri Secretary of State website. The Federal Voting Assistance Program can provide information about absentee voting procedures for other states. If your student will be absentee voting, encourage them to find information right away as deadlines will be fast approaching.
