There are only 126 days until the 2016 Presidential election takes place, November 8th. Every vote counts and it’s a privilege to exercise our right to vote, a right many people outside our country don’t have! Adults between the ages of 18-21 make up about 21% of the voting eligible population but voter turnout for this age group has reached record lows.
Before your student heads to Missouri State for the fall semester, it’s a great idea for them to think about the upcoming election. Have they registered to vote? Will they vote absentee? Or will they register to vote in Springfield?
To help emphasize the community engagement tenant of the public affairs mission, voter registration will be available at various times and locations on campus during Public Affairs Week (Monday – Thursday, Sept. 12-15, 2016). All qualifying students, staff and faculty are encouraged to get registered to vote!

Students have a choice about where to register to vote. To find out about voting in your state, visit the your state’s Secretary of State website.
School address:
- Students attending college in Missouri may register at their school address. They must plan to return after temporary absences, like summer break, but do not have to plan to reside at that address permanently.
Permanent address:
- Students may choose to register or remain registered at a permanent address in Missouri or outside the state. In this case, students may need to vote by absentee ballot.
Students may only be registered and vote in one location. (reprinted from http://campusvoteproject.org/missouri/)
