This is a great question. Yes, family members can receive alerts through the Missouri State alert system. This is a great opportunity to have a conversation with your student about the alert system and staying safe on campus (http://www.missouristate.edu/safetran/).
Once you’ve had this conversation, your student can add you to the alert system in their my.missouristate.edu account. Here are the steps:
- Your student will login to my.missouristate.edu.
- They will click on the Profile tab.
- Under the Personal Information tab, they will click Missouri State Alert Preferences. Here they will add your email and/or phone number.
This is also a good time to remind your student to update their emergency contact information.
Note: If you are signed up to receive the alerts, you will receive ALL alerts, including the 5am alerts when the campus is closed due to a snow day.
