TCM Fall 2010 Tailgate/Dept. BBQ

If you didn’t know it TCM takes the football season very seriously… Meet the faculty and network with students at the department social/tailgate on Sept. 2, anytime after 3pm until gametime at 6pm at Bearfest Village (South of the stadium). Equally important is showing support for your fellow classmates/football team. We have a number of players on the team, last night you might have heard Waylon Richardet on the JOCK 98.7 give a great interview mentioning Construction Management. You might know preseason All-American David Arkin (Construction Management major), starting linebacker Adam Beauchamp (Construction Management major), kicker Jason Bromley (Construction Management major), defensive end Chris Current (Construction Management major), cornerback Darius Blow (Construction Management major), or tackle Philip Terhaar (Construction Management major).

Show support for the team, meet the faculty and fellow majors, and have some free food! New majors, if you haven’t seen the tailgating trailer it is a must see. The event is sponsored by Archer Western Construction (they will be in attendance as well).

KC Spring Construction Trip!

The Technology and Construction Management Department and the Builder’s Association of Kansas City will be sponsoring a field trip to Kansas City on April 8 and April 9, 2010. Destinations will include Arrowhead Stadium (http://www.kcchiefs.com/arrowhead/cam.html) , the Kauffman Performing Arts Center (http://www.kauffmancenter.org/TheBuilding/default.aspx), the Paseo Bridge project (http://www.kcicon.org/) , Dave and Busters, and others . The full itenerary has been mailed to TCM students and is available in Glass 200.

All Construction Management students are highly encouraged to attend this unique opportunity. There is a 54-person limit and registration will be on a first-come basis. The cost for the trip is $60 per person and will include: transportation; hotel room; lunch and dinner on Thursday; and, breakfast and lunch on Friday.

To register, bring your: 1) completed activity release form; and, 2) payment to Nadine Jones (Glass Hall 200). If you did not recieve these by email you can pick them up in Glass 200. If paying by check, please make it out to Missouri State University. Annual Construction Career Night (Resume Books)

In preperation for the Annual Construction Career Night to be held on Feb. 18th Construction Management Students need to submit their resumes to the Career Center. The department compiles the submitted resumes and sends them to employers attending career night. You will need to register with the Career Center (1st floor of Glass Hall) before submitting your resume. Resumes must be submitted by Jan. 26th.

Construction Club and Chili Cookoff!

TCM Department Scholarships

The annual COBA/TCM scholarship application period is open. The application deadline is 3pmFeb. 8th. This year TCM students are able to apply for COBA Scholarships, this is a change from years past. TCM has over 20 scholarships available. You are encouraged to apply for all scholarships for which you are eligible. Dec. Construction Club Meeting

1st Springfield TCM Alumni Mixer a Success

35 attended the 1st TCM Alumni Mixer held at Rivals Casual Grill on Nov. 19. Thank you to all who atttended. The second mixer will be held Dec. 9 at the Gilloiz at 5:30. Watch for details.

Lithko Contracting Information Session

Lithko Construction will be on campus Nov. 19th at 5:30pm in Kemper 102. This is the KC office of Lithko which deals primarily with cement flatwork and tilt-up construction. See the career center for more information. http://www.lithko.com/ps.shtml
