The College of Natural and Applied Sciences (CNAS) announced changes in two leadership positions.
Dr. Xingping Sun has accepted the position of interim associate dean for the college. Sun is a professor in the mathematics department and will begin his new duties July 1. He will replace Dr. Pawan Kahol, who will serve as the interim dean of the Graduate College.
“We wish Pawan all of the best in his new position,” said Dr. Tamera Jahnke, CNAS dean. “I welcome Dr. Sun into this leadership role and look forward to working with him for the next two years.”
The other leadership change involves Dr. Ken Vollmar, currently the head of the computer science department. Vollmar will remain in that position but will add the role of acting head of mathematics for the coming year, while a search for a permanent head for that department is conducted this fall.
“I look forward to working with Ken and the mathematics department as we move forward in the coming year,” Jahnke said. “I want to thank Dr. Yungchen Cheng for his many years of service as head of the mathematics department. He has worked tirelessly for the department and the university. He is a problem solver and we look forward to him using his problem solving skills in the classroom.”
