Recently, three individuals from the biology department at Missouri State University received awards at the annual meeting of the Central Plains Society of Mammalogists (CPSM), at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Mo.
- Dr. Lynn Robbins, biology per course faculty, received the CPSM Distinguished Service Award. This was given to him in recognition of his more than 20 years of active service to the CPSM and to mammalogy in the region.
- Cheyenne Gerdes, biology graduate student from Conway, Ark., received the award for the best poster by a master’s student for her poster titled “Seasonal Migration of Gray Bats (Myotis grisescens) in Relation to Potential White-Nose Syndrome (WNS) Spread.”
- Ryan Slanczka, biology student from Springfield, Mo. received the award for the best poster by an undergraduate student award for his poster on the big brown bat, titled “Eptesicus Fuscus Weight Loss Over Winter 2012-2013.”
