- TEA Research Updates
- Meeting with Diana Picalo on August 27 at 11am
- Will have the first draft by September 7th
- Dr. Kear composed an email that volunteered to develop a template for MSU
- Amanda is working to clean the data label variables, remove the qualitative in preparation for SPSS entry
- Updates to the IRB for TEA
- We still have the task of re-wording the questionnaire –this will be added as an agenda items for the next research meeting
- Dr. Hough discussed a 1-page fact sheet concept- which will be written in a way that someone who does not know anything about TEA can be educated on the following variables for example- who the partners are, determination of the levels of participation, goals etc. –this effort may be coupled with a series of report which will include research results.
- OERI Updates
- There will be a change of date for the executive meeting
- Dates for next week are: Thursday, September 6th or Monday, September 10th

- Dr. Hough discussed the idea of having percentages of time spent on particular projects to show to superintendents
- The OERI IRB is complete and in Kathy’s office
- There is a need to develop a research plan for the 1:1 technology initiative (which will include cost/benefit information)
- Discussion about a research group on 1:1 technology and a determination of how we will support them
- Dr. Hough suggested that we consider a “matched pairs design” as an opportunity to do research
- Dr. Hough also discussed the goal of obtaining more input from superintendents
- Community schools-Amanda and Sequana are gathering information on evaluations of community schools and a collection of where such efforts are currently being implemented
- The baseline data collection will be sent to districts to determine their progress on 1:1 technology
- Dr. Hough will send an example a validated questionnaire and research questions to help inform the teachers version of the 1:1 technology questionnaire
- Dr. Kear will talk with Norm about funding and how it relates to the research plan (once established)
- Idea of the creation of a training manual for districts to use for 1:1 technology
- Community Schools Visit-W Roy, Dr. Kear, and Mike Stout will visit Roberson
- Nixa grant et al. grant opportunities
- Discussion about upcoming opportunities to obtain funding for projects
- 21st Century project- a collection of current assessments on 21stcentury skills has been compiled to serve as:
- a resource to aid district’s decision making regarding the skills they have interest in assessing
- an indicator of success for 1:1 technology initiatives
