Parking Hint Lot 44

Did you know that the most underutilized parking lots on campus are located on Elm Street and Kimbrough Avenue?  Each of these lots is just a short walk from the shuttle stop located at Bear Park North. Lots 44 (715 E. Elm), 51 (621 E. Elm) and 52 (416 S. Kimbrough) generally have plenty of space. Why spend a half hour or more circling around campus looking for a parking space when you can park in one of these lots only steps from an air-conditioned shuttle stop?

Big Day for Commuters: Convocation, New Student Festival, Commuter Reception

You really should already be on campus for Convocation, so I hope you are reading this on your phone while getting settled for the kick off to the new semester.

Even if you aren’t on campus right now though, and even if you don’t go to convocation, get here for New Student Festival and the Commuter Meet & Greet.   New Student Festival starts at about 3:30pm, and the Commuter Reception (with pizza!) starts at 5:15pm.  You can learn about all the MSU student organizations in one place at NSF, and then come have some pizza and chat with upperclassmen & staff and faculty about what you need to know to be successful as a commuter student.

PLUS we have a giveaway for you!

Opening Weekend Saturday!

I hope you were able to come to campus for PlayFair Friday night.  A huge turnout for that event meant a lot of people to meet and a lot of excitement.

But, whether you were at PlayFair last night, or you couldn’t get there, tonight will be even better.  Tonight is Bear Bash – our “Welcome to Fall 2011″ party in and around the Plaster Student Union.  The doors to the Union open at 9PM, but you’ll want to get to campus earlier than that.  The party gets started out on the North Mall with games and free food and a chance to meet our MSU athletes.  You also want to get in line early because only the first 1,000 in the door get the free Bear Bash T-shirt, and it’s awesome.

Once inside, you’ll get to choose from lots of activities: play Minute to Win It, see a comedic juggler, play bingo for groceries or DVDs, meet people playing board games, test your skill at Texas Hold ‘Em or Spades tournaments, bowl, play pool or table tennis get a photobooth picture and lots more!  Then round out your night with a late night breakfast in the PSU Ballroom.

As a commuter student, you could really add to your wardrobe tonight.  Besides the Bear Bash T-shirt, you can also score a commuter T-shirt.  Just show up at Bear Park north from 6:30pm on, and meet with our awesome SGA volunteers.  They will answer any questions you might have about Bear Bash or anything else about campus, get you signed up for our giant commuter drawing with a $100 prize package, and give you a free T-shirt.  Then they will whisk you away to Bear Bash on a Golf Cart taxi generously provided to us by the MSU Bookstore.

When you’ve had a great time at Bear Bash and are ready to return to your car, they will be there to give you a ride back to Bear Park North.

So, to recap: free ride, free shirt(s), free food and fun.  You’ll be there, right?
