The Victim Center is holding a training for people who would like to be a volunteer victim advocate. It is scheduled for Saturday, May 20th, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
The Victim Center serves all ages and genders who have been victims of violent and sexual crimes in Southwest Missouri. We were established in 1976 and are a United Way Organization. We also provide services to secondary crime victims. Some of the services provided are crisis intervention, counseling, assistan…ce with ex parte orders of protection, crime prevention education programs, etc. Volunteer Victim Advocates get to respond to calls from people through our 24-hour crisis line. There are times we will meet them at area hospitals, crime scenes, and/or law enforcement agencies. All services provided are always provided free-of-charge.
