For the next 3 days, Springfield brings you lots and lots of art.
It all starts tonight with this month’s First Friday Art Walk in downtown Springfield. If you’ve never been to the Art Walk before, this would be a great time to check it out. The weather is even supposed to cooperate. The galleries of the downtown arts district will be open from 6-10pm. Don’t miss seeing the art of your fellow students at the MSU Brick City Gallery and the MSU Student Exhibition Center.
At 6:30pm, in Founders Park in downtown Springfield, you can join in Arts Fiesta, a celebration of Mexian culture and Springfield’s relationship with our sister city of Tlaquepaque, Mexico. Arts Fiesta includes food, music, dance and games.
On Saturday and Sunday, Historic Walnut Street (just north of campus) will be filled with art and people as Springfield celebrates the 31st annual ArtsFest. The largest arts festival in Southwest Missouri, ArtsFest attracts about 20,000 people to its juried art exhibits and sales, music and dance, and food booths. Cost is $5 for both days. ArtsFest runs from 10AM-6PM Saturday and from 10AM-5PM on Sunday.
