EMA Outgoing and Incoming Leadership Team

The EMA Outgoing and Incoming Leadership Team met for dinner at Dr. Rothschild’s house within the past few weeks.

This was a time of transferring over informational about the positions as well as a meet and greet for all to get to know one another.

The menu for dinner was steak and chicken and many other goodies. We are all looking forward to see what next year’s leadership team brings!

The MSU student chapter of IAVM recently toured multiple venues in San Diego, California. Some of those venues included: the San Diego Convention Center, Balboa Theatre, and Petco Park.

The students had an opportunity to meet with the General Manager of the San Diego Convention Center, Brad Gessner. Gessner spoke with the students about the types of events that are held at the  San Diego Convention Center and even allowed the students to watch a load-in for the American Society of Anesthesiologists Convention. This particular convention brought in thousands of anesthesiologists from around the world.

After the students came back from the trip, they shared their experiences with the Entertainment Management Association, which is affiliated with the student IAVM chapter.

EMA Elections

Entertainment Management Association elections are coming up soon.  The EMA meeting for this Wednesday, March 31st will be cancelled due to spring holiday. Instead, the leadership nominations meeting will be on Wednesday, April 7th. We will then have elections on Wednesday, April 14th. These meetings are in Glass 350 at 5pm.

If you are considering being a leader, this is what it takes:
- must be an Entertainment Management Major
- must be available for leaders meetings (which have been on Mondays this year) and the regular meetings on Wednesday)
-all leaders including previous leaders also go through a leadership class where they can earn 1 credit hour if they like. This class is on Monday’s from 3-5pm.

For details on job descriptions, you can go to blackboard and under the EMA documents tab you will find the descriptions. You will also find details in our constitution, also located on Blackboard. Remember, that industry representative positions are appointed.

The way nominations work: On April 7th, you will be able to nominate yourself or another individual for a position. Individuals may be nominated for more than one position. Then on the 14th, the nominees will give a short 3-4 minute speech on why they should be elected. They will step out of the room, and we will then elect the new leadership team right then and there.
