Please be advised the Annual Steam Outage is scheduled for Saturday May 20, 2017 thru the evening of Wednesday May 24, 2017 impacting a number of facilities on campus.
The facilities impacted by the steam outage are as follows:
- Art Annex – Building Heat.
- Blair-Shannon House & Dining Center – Domestic Hot Water and Kitchen Hot Water (facility will be in cooling mode).
- Carrington Hall – Building Heat (2nd Floor Auditorium). The remainder of the facility will be in cooling mode.
- Cheek Hall – Building Heat and Reheat.
- Craig Hall – Building Heat.
- Ellis Hall – Building Heat.
- Forsythe Athletic Center – Building Reheat and Domestic Hot Water.
- Foster Recreation Center – Building Reheat, Pool Heat, Hot Tub Heat and Domestic Hot Water.
- Freudenberger House – Building Heat and Domestic Hot Water.
- Greenwood Laboratory School – Building Heat, Reheat and Domestic Hot Water.
- Hill Hall – Building Heat and Reheat.
- Karls Hall – Building Heat and Domestic Hot Water.
- Kemper Hall – Building Heat.
- McDonald Arena – Domestic Hot Water (the bowl of the facility will be in ventilation/circulation mode for summer).
- Meyer Library – Building Heat and Reheat.
- Morris Hall (Baker Bookstore) – Building Heat (facility will be in cooling mode).
- Plaster Stadium (West Grandstand and East Bleachers) – Domestic Hot Water and building re-heat (2nd floor classrooms). The remainder of the facility will be in cooling mode for HVAC.
- Plaster Student Union – Building Heat, Reheat and Domestic Hot Water. There will be limited Domestic Hot Water on the standby Electric Domestic Hot Water Heater.
- Power House – The Steam Plant.
- Pummill Hall – Building Heat, Reheat and Domestic Hot Water.
- Strong Hall – Building Heat, Reheat, and Domestic Hot Water.
- Siceluff Hall – Building Heat, Reheat, and Domestic Hot Water.
- Temple Hall – Building Heat, Domestic Hot Water and Lab Steam (the Autoclave).
- Wells House – Building Heat and Domestic Hot Water.
- Woods House – Domestic Hot Water (facility will be in cooling mode).
Buildings noted above where reheat will be impacted may result in spaces in the building becoming cooler than typical.
The boilers at the Power House will be shut down and secured at 12:01 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, May 20, securing the steam to the Springfield Campus. Following inspections and maintenance of the boilers and the steam distribution system the boiler start-up process will begin at 8:05 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24. We expect system pressure to be fully restored no later than midnight Wednesday, May 24.
