Planning, Design & Construction announces the following details associated with the project:
17-087 Computer Lab Renovation, Cheek Hall
Construction work is scheduled to begin Tuesday, May 23, 2017 on the renovation of the computer services lab in Cheek Hall. The first order of work is the demolition of the existing spaces (rooms in the 150 area). To assist in the removal of the debris, two large roll-off dumpsters will be temporarily located near the entrance doors at Cheek Hall, one at the south entrance and one at the west entrance, as depicted in red below. The dumpsters will not impede any access into or out of the building. The dumpster at the western door will be removed upon the completion of the demolition phase of the project. The southern dumpster will remain throughout the project, which is scheduled to be completed August 6, 2017. In addition to the larger dumpster shown on the south side of the building, smaller dumpsters may be located in the area as needed to allow for proper recycling of materials to avoid waste going to the landfill.
In addition to the dumpsters being visible, work will be occurring in the public corridors surrounding the current computer lab. In order to control dust, temporary walls will be built around the spaces narrowing the corridors. The corridors will still be usable and accessible. Some materials may be stored in a neat and orderly fashion within the lobby for a short period of time during construction to help facilitate the renovation project. These materials should not interfere with normal access throughout the lobby or access in or out of the building.
The dumpsters will be placed by the entrances in the early morning and shall be emptied each morning well before the normal business hours of the University.
