Please be aware that City Utilities of Springfield is replacing the water main that runs along Holland Avenue from Grand Street to Cherry Street. This project began in late May and the work is expected to extend into September. During the week of August 20-26 City Utilities expect to be working in the following locations along Holland Avenue:
· Beginning Tuesday, work will occur on the east side of Holland Avenue just west of the Allison North Stadium (Field Hockey/Lacrosse Venue) but at least one lane of traffic will remain passable during the work. City Utilities plans to allow for two-way traffic on Holland but vehicles may have to take turns. The sidewalk on the east side of Holland will be closed at this location.
· Beginning mid-week, work will occur at the south end of Holland Avenue on the east side of the street immediately north of Grand Street. City Utilities plans to allow traffic to flow on Holland Avenue, including right turns from Grand onto Holland. Holland will be narrowed due to the work but they feel traffic will be able to pass. The sidewalk on the east side of Holland will be closed at this location.
· Beginning late in the week, work will occur on the south side of Bear Boulevard east of Holland Avenue. As with the other locations City Utilities expects traffic to be able to pass but cars may have to take turns. The sidewalk on the south side of Bear Boulevard will be closed at this location.
All work outlined above is expected to be complete by the end of the week unless weather or unforeseen conditions cause delays. Updated information regarding the Holland Avenue water main renewal project will be posted weekly as the project progresses.
