City Utilities of Springfield is continuing work to replace the water main that runs along Holland Avenue. They plan to perform the following work on August 31 and September 1:
- A valve will be installed near the southeast corner of Bear Boulevard and Holland Avenue. The work will take place along Harrison Street just east of Holland Avenue and will likely require that the sidewalk on the south side of Harrison Street in that area be closed. The work may also cause some traffic congestion on Harrison Street.
- Once the valve is installed, crews will begin flushing and filling the main. This operation will require that City Utilities trucks be parked on Holland Avenue near Grand Street and near Cherry Street at various times as they operate valves and release water in those locations.
All work outlined above is expected to be complete by the end of the week unless weather or unforeseen conditions cause delays.
Except for the possibility of additional flushing, no on-site work is anticipated on this project during the week of September 3-9
Updated information regarding the Holland Avenue water main renewal project will be posted weekly as the project progresses.
