Missouri State University now has its 26th privately named faculty position. BKD, LLP in Springfield has established the BKD Chair of Accountancy in the Missouri State College of Business. It is the second such chair funded by BKD.
This is the 23rd new endowed faculty position established since 2005 when Dr. Michael T. Nietzel became president; there were three when he arrived. Nietzel has had the endowed chairs as a priority, with the ultimate goal of having at least 70 endowed positions, which is about 10 percent of the full-time faculty positions. “Missouri State University is extremely grateful for the creation of a second BKD Chair in Accountancy,” said Nietzel. “This investment by BKD will allow Missouri State to recruit another outstanding faculty member to our excellent School of Accountancy, which is strengthening its national reputation as a superb program for the education of accountants.”
The process will begin immediately to recruit a nationally-recognized faculty member to the second BKD Chair in Accountancy, according to Dr. Ron Bottin, dean of the College of Business Administration.
“The support that BKD has provided to the School of Accountancy within the College of Business is truly phenomenal,” said Bottin. “The personal and professional working relationship with our alums at BKD is, indeed, special. We are honored and privileged that they have elected to expand their investment in our program by providing funding for a second BKD Chair in Accountancy. Words alone cannot express our gratitude for their generosity.”
