Kathy Miller started her employment at Missouri State University in December 1981 as a student worker in the Alumni Office. She never imagined it would turn into her career, but now 32 years later, she still loves her work and her Bears.
After graduating in 1982, she was hired as a temporary employee as the gift records clerk. She was hired full-time a year later, and, after several years was promoted to Records Supervisor.
Kathy has always worked in the area of advancement at Missouri State. She started in the Alumni Office as a student, and after graduation, her position moved to the Office of Development and Alumni Relations. Her offices have been located in Carrington Hall, Burgess House and the Kenneth E. Meyer Alumni Center.
Kathy has seen the expansion of countless buildings and offices over the years. When she started as a student in 1977, Cheek Hall was the Library. By the time she graduated, the Duane G. Meyer Library had been built. Kathy’s favorite thing about the campus is seeing it change and grow.
Kathy said, “The people I work with, alumni, and donors have all made the last 32 years a joy!”
Kathy Miller is one who truly embodies, “Once a Bear Always a Bear!”
