Dr. Albert Barreda comes from one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world, Peru. It is named as the World’s Leading Culinary Travel Destination in 2012 and 2013 by the World Travel Awards. Dr. Barreda earned his Ph.D. in Hospitality Management from University of Central Florida’s Rosen College. He holds a Master of Science degree from The Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts – Amherst. His Bachelor degree is in Science Communications from The San Agustin State University in Arequipa – Peru.
Dr. Barreda’s teaching areas include: Strategic Marketing, Brand Management, Strategic Management, Leadership Development, Revenue Management, Hospitality Finance, Hospitality Financial and Managerial Accounting. His research focuses on Branding, E-commerce, Strategic Intuition, Knowledge Management, Cross-cultural Management, Structural Equation Modeling, Economic Valuation Models, and Investments in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry. So far, his research has also been presented in predominant industry and research conferences around the world including: Macau, China, Taiwan and United States.
Dr. Barreda has been published in leading academic journals and proceedings of international conferences. He also serves as a reviewer for the following journals: Tourism Management, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, Computer in Human Behavior Journal, Journal of Hospitality Marketing & Management, Tourism Review Journal, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Technology and Journal of Quality Assurance in Hospitality and Tourism.
Dr. Barreda has consulting experience in the areas of hotel investments and market research for hospitality and tourism organizations. He owns a consulting firm in Quebec, Canada. Prior to joining Missouri State University, he worked in several sectors of the hospitality and tourism industry such as hotels, conventions, special events, country clubs and fine-dining restaurants.
