The HRA 330: Banquet Operations Class teamed with Hospitality Leaders of Tomorrow (HLOT) to host our annual Casino Night for over 70 current and prospective HRA majors. Students played casino-like games, enjoyed refreshments and music, and also had the opportunity to meet other students, faculty and staff outside the classroom.
The event allowed students to actively apply what they learned in class and was a great hands-on challenge. Students developed the marketing and promotion plan, organized the details of the event, and then executed the plan. They also served as dealers, pit-bosses, cashiers, and supervisors for raffle and auction.
While Casino Night was fun for student dealers, their classmates and friends, gave a brief introduction to HRA 436: Casino Operations. This popular class introduces students to the gaming industry with an emphasis on casino hotel operations as an integral part of the hospitality industry. Topics include the history of gaming, casino layout and design, surveillance, demographic profiles, psychological profiles and economic impact.
