The hospitality industry is fast-paced and constantly changing. As hospitality educators, we continually work to ensure the curriculum we deliver is relevant to industry needs. This semester the HRA department worked to make enhancements within the lodging curriculum.
In the fall, Missouri State University became one of a select group of hospitality programs to incorporate M3 Accounting + Analytics software into core coursework. The addition provides students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with one of the hotel industry’s leading accounting software programs. Through M3 University, students have the opportunity to make financial decisions for a virtual 100-room hotel—a great way to put theory into practice.
This spring, the department will offer a new course, HRA 370 Hospitality Industry Revenue Management, in the lodging option. The HRA 370 course is designed to advance students’ understanding of revenue management concepts and implementation. Students in this course will also complete the Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics (CHIA) offered by the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) and STR.
The implementation of M3 Accounting + Analytics software and the development of HRA 370 course will ensure our students knowledge and skills are relevant to the needs of the industry.
