Campus community asked to help conserve energy during break

To all Springfield faculty, staff and students –

We will soon be enjoying a break for the holidays. However, while most of us will be away, the University’s utility meters will keep on turning.

Please do your part to conserve energy and ensure our campus is safe from electrical hazards. Before you depart for the holiday break, please do the following:

  • Make sure your windows are closed and locked
  • Make sure your doors are closed and locked
  • Turn off all unnecessary appliances
  • Turn off computers and printers
  • Turn off lights

Your efforts to avoid consuming wasted energy over the 2010 holiday break saved the University ….208,591 kwh in electrical energy, or the equivalent of $14,592!

Let’s do our best to do even better this year.  We will post results in January.

Have a great and safe holiday season.
