The office of citizenship and service-learning is hosting a spring faculty and staff development conference called Beyond the Borders: The Future of Service-Learning on March 6. This conference is designed to encourage faculty and staff to look beyond current service-learning opportunities for our students and to explore new opportunities for service-learning through global and democratic citizenship, international and study away, and online courses.

Featured speakers
The conference will feature the following keynote speakers:
- Dr. Richard M. Battistoni, professor of political science and public and community service studies at Providence College
- Dr. Patti H. Clayton, senior scholar with the Center for Service and Learning, IUPUI and visiting scholar at UNC Greensboro
- Dr. Jean R. Strait, development director for the Center for Excellence in Urban Teaching in Hamline University’s School of Education
An afternoon panel discussion will include Patricia Blanton, Fort Hays State University; Carmen Boyd, Missouri State; Christie Brungardt, Fort Hays State University; Elizabeth Strong, Missouri State; and Dr. Michael Stout, Missouri State.
