Missouri State University Springfield and West Plains campuses will participate in the forthcoming Annual Statewide Severe Weather Exercise for the State of Missouri on Tuesday, March 13 at 1:30 p.m. In case of actual inclement weather on that date, the exercise will be postponed to Thursday, March 15 at 1:30 p.m.This year, the Springfield campus will NOT have an evening exercise.
As in the past, all departments and residence halls are requested and strongly encouraged to participate and follow the prescribed Academic and Residence Life Emergency Procedures for each respective building.
To provide the least amount of disruption, we suggest that critical events such as tests and exams be scheduled around these particular dates and times if possible. The exercise should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete. Classes and other events will resume immediately afterward. Specific questions about your building should be directed to that building coordinator.
Information on the drill and recommended Tornado Safety Rules can be found on the National Weather Service website. Additional information on local and campus responses to a tornado warning, including specific directions on what to do doing the drill or an actual tornado, can be found on the Safety and Transportation website. Shelter locations for Springfield Campus buildings can also be found online.
