Hopefully you’ve all visited the Campus Compact Heartland Conference website to become more informed about our September conference. As promised yesterday, we’re going to provide some easy-to-follow instructions on how to sign up and use Twitter so we can all be more engaged in the preparations for this event.
Let’s start by loading our favorite internet browser and going to twitter.com. On the Twitter homepage, you’ll find sign-in and sign-up areas above a constantly-updating line of popular Twitter accounts. Assuming you don’t already have a Twitter account, fill in your name, email, and a password, then click “sign up” to create one. You’ll be asked to create a username to identify yourself – you can use your name, your nickname, or a clever pseudonym – under the condition that no one else has it already. If you already have a Twitter account, just fill in your username and password and click “sign in.”
Now that we’re on the site, we can start exploring what @MoCampusCompact and others are saying. On your homepage, you can use the search bar to find other users, search for keywords, and see what’s trending. Once you find other users you’d like to follow, just click “Follow” on their profile and their tweets will automatically show up in your feed. For conference tweets, be sure to follow @MoCampusCompact, @melissakmace, and @KansasCC!
To write a tweet, just type in your thoughts in the box in your homepage underneath the “What’s happening” heading, then press “Tweet.”
Come back tomorrow for tips on writing more effective tweets!
