Certified Distance Educator Award Recipients

The Certified Distance Educator Award recognizes hardworking teachers who participate in professional development such as workshops, Massive Open Online Courses, conferences, and webinars to improve their online teaching. Missouri State highlights these outstanding teachers for their commitment to bettering distance education.

 

Kimberly Van Ornum, Instructor of Mathematics, received the Certified Distance Educator Award. Ms. Van Ornum has participated in multiple seminars to sharpen her skills in teaching math online. Missouri State University applauds her dedication to continual improvement in the field of online teaching!

Jennifer Rojas-McWhinney, Assistant Professor in the Department of Childhood Education and Family Studies, received the Certified Distance Educator Award. Professor Rojas-McWhinney attended showcase presentations and successfully completed the Blackboard Green Belt training sessions. Her research interests focus on the relationship dynamics within families and the negotiation of parenting beliefs. Congratulations to Jennifer Rojas-McWhinney for her excellence in online education!

 

Annice McLean, Senior Instructor, Reading Foundations and Technology, received the Certified Distance Educator Award. She has successfully completed her Blackboard Black Belt training and teaches instructional technology classes for pre-service teachers in the Reading Foundations and Technology Department. Prior to joining the Missouri State University faculty, Annice was an educator for over thirty years in the Missouri Public Schools System. Missouri State Outreach recognizes Annice McLean for her resilience in improving online teaching!

 

Ching-Wen Chang, Associate Professor, Reading Foundations and Technology, received the Certified Distance Educator Award. Her attendance includes Blackboard Black Belt training and presentations at the FCTL Showcase. Missouri State Online commends Ching-Wen Chang for her outstanding motivation to better online teaching!

 

Gary Stafford, Senior Instructor, Mathematics, received the Certified Distance Educator Award. Gary participated in Blackboard Black Belt training sessions and in the Digital Professor Academy. Applause to Gary Stafford for his awesome commitment to distance learning!

 

Jennifer Morganthaler, Clinical Instructor, Agriculture at the Mountain Grove campus, received the Certified Distance Educator Award. Her activities include the 31st Showcase on Teaching and Learning as well as webinars relating to her interests in floriculture and high tunnel crop production. Bravo to Jennifer Morganthaler for her distinguished determination in the betterment of distance education!

 

Paula Rector, Senior Instructor of Criminology, was recognized for the Certified Distance Educator award this spring. In addition to teaching online courses in criminology, her professional interests include feminist criminology, race, class, gender and crime, pregnant drug users, domestic violence and spousal rape laws. Missouri State Outreach sincerely applauds and thanks Paula Rector for her continuing excellence in online distance education!

 

Tracey Dalton, Senior Instructor in the Department of English, is a recipient of the Certified Distance Educator Award. Her professional interests include academic advising along with English and American grammar, punctuation and usage. Missouri State Online recognizes Ms. Dalton’s commitment to online teaching and learning excellence!

 

Jennifer Pursley, Senior Instructor in the Department of Mathematics, is a recipient of the Certified Distance Educator Award. Ms. Pursley completed her MS at the University of Kansas and specializes in the teaching of MTH 101 online. Missouri State University congratulates her commitment to continual improvement in the field of online teaching excellence!

 

Michael Hammond, Senior Instructor in the Department of Accountancy, is a recipient of the Certified Distance Educator award. Mr. Hammond’s professional interests and research includes cost accounting, budgeting and online teaching and learning. Missouri State Online commends Mr. Hammond’s devotion to his students through continuous improvement in distance delivery of high-quality instruction!
