The James River starts…

 …in your front yard!

More than likely, you’ve found this blog because you received a little green flyer asking if you “ever wonder about storm water?” That flyer was developed by students in Missouri State University’s W.H. Darr School of Agriculture (the Soil Conservation and Water Management class, to be specific). Their goal is to raise awareness that the decisions we make — what we choose to do, or choose not to do — affect Springfield and the surrounding ecosystems in ways you might not previously have imagined.

So, if you’d like to know more, please have a look at the Storm Water Management Topics listed in the sidebar. For more background, the Urban Stormwater Education Project is a good place to start. Or, you can select a more specific topic. We will add to the topics over the coming weeks.

We invite you to leave comments, questions and suggestions about storm water, lawn and garden management, and water quality.

Want to know more right now? Please also visit the websites for the City of Springfield, Stormwater Division, and the James River Basin Partnership.
