Program Director, Dr. Dennis Hickey, has lunch with MGS alumni, Aaron Kruse and James Gilmore.
James is Co-Director of the National High School Debate League of China. He is in charge of managing Public Forum style debates and Model United Nations conferences in cities across China. Since starting he has also assisted in running the National Championship tournament in Beijing, which is the largest English-language debate tournament in Asia.
Aaron is Content Editor for the US Chamber of Commerce. In this position he responsible for researching and reporting on major issues for foreign companies in China as well as the US-China relationship. The content editor is responsible for publishing AmCham’s “Business Now” magazine in China, as well as the content on the website in order to help American businesses succeed in the most important economic relationship in the world.
Aaron and James were Political Science majors before joining the Global Studies graduate program where they served as Graduate Assistants. Both taught at the MSU Dalian China branch campus for one year before moving to Beijing. As a graduate student, Aaron participated in the MGS program exchange with People’s University in Beijing and also spent a summer in Taiwan in an intensive Chinese language program.
