From pizza enthusiast, MPA student, and Graduate Assistant, Jerry Kendall:
I built this pizza oven over the summer break in 2012, spending about 100-120 hours in total. Consisting of approximately 500 bricks, 1800 pounds of cement, and 6″ of ceramic wool insulation to keep the heat in, the oven heats to about 850 degrees in just under two hours and will bake a pizza in under 8 minutes. It is wood fired and has a brick floor for direct surface cooking.
My wife Chris and I also bake breads, cinnamon rolls, pastas, and pies in the oven. Large enough to bake three pizzas at once, it is especially ideal for pizza parties where everyone gets to make their own personalized pizza and desserts.
