With world attention focused on ISIS, PLS and MGS Professor David Romano analyzes the latest news from Turkey and Syria in his most recent, and provocative, column for Rudaw – Rudaw.
Here David is picture with Enise Guneyli, a newly elected Peoples’ Democratic Party or Halkların Demokratik Partisi (HDP) member of Turkey’s Parliament for Mardin. She’s only 29 and she readily volunteered that she kind of “fell into politics” fairly recently. She’s from Nusaybin; right on the Syrian border. The other, bigger half of the city is Qamishly in Syria. Both cities are Kurdish, but the post-WWI border cut right through the center and made two towns.
