Claudine
Claudine stars James Earl Jones and Diahann Carroll in her only Oscar nominated performance, 1975. Shown as part of Women’s History Month, this film provides a fascinating vehicle to explore the themes of poverty and welfare in America. The film will be screened on Saturday, March 22, 7:00 p.m., in the PSU Theater.
There will be a panel discussion following the film about the impact of poverty on vulnerable populations, especially relating to women in contemporary society, with a group of community panelists who include: Dr. Erin Kenny, Anthropologist and Director of Women’s Studies at Drury University; Danica Wilson, Community Activist; Sandra Hart—Public Educator; and Christy Hyman, Historian.
Fish Tank
On Saturday, April 5th, Fish Tank (starring Katie Jarvis and Michael Fassbender) will be screened. The British director, Andrea Arnold, will come to Missouri State for our final master filmmaker visit of the year. She’ll conduct a master class in directing and screenwriting on Friday, April 4th in the PSU Theater (11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.) and hold a public talk-back session after the film on April 5th. The film begins at 7:00 p.m. in the PSU Theater
Andrea won an Academy Award for her short, Wasp (2003), and two BAFTA (British Association of Film & Television Awards–equivalent to our Oscars) and Cannes Jury Prizes for her first two feature films, Red Road (2006) and Fish Tank (2009).

Blackboard Sensei Tip: Always Log Out
It’s very tempting to close your browser when you have finished with your Blackboard use for the day, but that’s not what the Blackboard Sensei advises. You should always log out of Blackboard instead of simply closing your browser window to end your Blackboard session to avoid having multiple Blackboard sessions running. Having multiple sessions open at the same time can confuse Blackboard applications, causing a ‘timed out’ error and many user headaches! Logging out of Blackboard is easy, just click the door icon to the right of your name in the top right hand corner of the Blackboard window.
See the Blackboard Blog to learn more about the great features in Blackboard, and don’t forget about all the opportunities for Blackboard training at the Blackboard at Missouri State University website, and learn how you can become a Blackboard Black Belt while you’re there!

Academic Integrity
In an effort to help our faculty and staff be aware of how MSU students are collaborating, the Academic Integrity Council would like to draw your attention to websites like www.studyblue.com and www.clusterflunk.com. StudyBlue has been around for several years and currently boasts more than 7,300 MSU students as members. ClusterFlunk is a very new company and currently has more than 650 MSU students as members. These sites (and others like these) offer lists of actual MSU courses and instructors. Students can upload old tests, notes, and other course materials and have conversations with other students currently or previously enrolled in these courses.
