The theme for this year’s conference is “Facilitating Student Engagement and Deep Learning.”
Plan to join peers and colleagues for an inspiring morning of speakers, panels and practical sessions which showcase the work of faculty and solutions they have found for facilitating student engagement and deep learning. The event will feature:
- A continental breakfast and table-top displays of resources and academic services at MSU
- Over 20 break-out sessions presented by faculty and staff
- Luncheon featuring keynote speaker Dr. Deborah Allen, Associate Professor of Biological Sciences at the University of Delaware
Dr. Allen is one of the founding institute leaders from the University of Delaware’s Institute for Transforming Undergraduate Education. For more than ten years, the University of Delaware has encouraged the adoption of student-centered and active classroom pedagogies, particularly in the area of problem-based learning in undergraduate studies. Dr. Allen will talk about the use of problem-based learning to achieve deeper learning and the pedagogies of student engagement.
Join your peers and colleagues for an engaging discussion on this topic. Breakfast and lunch are free but registration is requested to ensure we don’t run out of food!
Please register online through My Learning Connection and search under the “Showcase on Teaching and Learning” category or type “Showcase” in the search box at the upper right screen after selecting “Show All Classes.”

Do “you ever plan to motor west?” Stories abound about the Mother Road, otherwise known as Main Street of America and Will Rogers Highway. This famous boulevard ran from Chicago, Illinois to Santa Monica, California, and veers through the heart of the Ozarks. Commissioned in 1926, the 2,448 mile road wasn’t fully paved until 1937. Decommissioned in 1984, it is no longer in one full piece as the rise of the Interstate paved the way for its demise. It is full of romance, ghost stories and landmarks and spans three time zones. It has given birth to music, poems and movies and has become a popular part of American culture.
Visit the Route 66 course page for registration and more detailed course information.
