Streaming Video Collection at Meyer Library
The MSU Libraries have acquired a streaming video collection, Ambrose Digital Video, which contains over 500 programs in the arts, humanities, social sciences, and the physical and life sciences, ranging in length from 25 to 60 minutes.
The collection contains a number of re-mastered well-known series such as Bronowski’s Ascent of Man; Attenborough’s The Living Planet, James Burke’s Connections; History of Civil Rights in America; History of the U.S. Constitution, and the BBC Shakespeare series.
In addition, there is a series of core concept videos in astronomy, biology, chemistry, geology, meteorology, and both classical and modern physics. Each core contains 12–15 videos covering major concepts.
There are also a number of contemporary issues programs available, including ones on climate change, fracking, equal rights, and water issues. Closed captioning is available for all of the programs, and the license allows for linking to videos within course pages.
Ambrose Digital Video can be found in the MSU Libraries’ directory of Articles and Databases. Soon the individual titles in Ambrose Digital Video will also be listed in SWAN, the Libraries’ catalog, with a link to the relevant individual video.
Meyer Library has License for American Psychological Association’s PsycTESTS
The Libraries have licensed the American Psychological Association’s PsycTESTS. PsycTESTS contains almost 14,000 psychological tests, about 70% of which are available in full text, along with detailed descriptions, and other relevant metadata. PsycTESTS resides on the familiar EBSCO platform and serves as an excellent companion to APA’s PsycINFO and PsycARTICLES. In addition, it is a good complement to one of the Libraries’ other digital resources, Mental Measurements Yearbook with Tests in Print.
PsycTESTS can be found on the Libraries’ Web page. Please inform your colleagues and students of the availability of this resource. If you have any questions about PsycTESTS , please feel free to contact one of us in the Libraries.
