Infographics Bootcamp: How to Create Effective Infographics for the Classroom and Academic Poster Sessions

Infographics are a visual representation of data or important concepts making it a creative way for students to demonstrate their mastery of knowledge. These tools are also becoming popular ways of presenting information at educational conferences. The Fall 2015 Showcase on Teaching and Learning will feature poster sessions where infographics may be seen.
This course will allow faculty the opportunity to get acquainted with the infographics method of displaying information. Topics include an introduction to infographics, research regarding the science of human information processing, infographic creation best practices and an overview of infographic creation tools.
At the end of this course, faculty should be able to:
- Explain the basic components of an infographic
- Explain how infographics can increase student comprehension vs. traditional text display of information
- Explain the best practices of creating an effective infographic
- Demonstrate effective use of infographic creation software
