You are invited to attend the following meetings of the Academic Advisor Forum. All interested advisors are welcome, so please encourage other advisors to participate. Unless noted, no registration is required.
In addition to the sessions offered as part of Academic Advisor Forum, all advisors are encouraged to attend a session introducing the new Degree Works degree audit. These sessions will provide two hours toward master advisor recertification. Register for a session from “My Learning Connection.”
Watch your email for a list of workshops from the Center for Dispute Resolution and the Shattering the Silences series. Those workshop series also count toward master advisor re-certification.
Please feel free to bring your lunch to any of these sessions.
A Review of What’s New for 2015–2016

Study Abroad: Helping Students Make it a Reality

Facilitators: Elizabeth Strong and Ashley Ryan and panel of student and faculty Study Away participants
In this session, students, faculty and Study Away staff will share important tips for advisors on study abroad conversations with advisees. Attendees will learn the nuts and bolts of studying abroad which will include:
- the menu of options
- application timeline and process
- scholarship and financial aid information
- credit transfer protocol
- and services for returning students
Study abroad alumni will share their perspectives and faculty will share their role in helping students develop cultural awareness and enhance their academic, career and personal growth.
What Advisors Need to Know about Interdisciplinary Majors
