Master Advisor Refresher Workshop

Designed for those whose Master Advisor designation has lapsed or for those who wish to complete the year’s recertification requirements in one session.
Topics planned for the refresher workshops include: Characteristics and initiatives for first generation students, Veteran services, tips and processes for academic appeals, and complexities of degree audits.
Advising Students Preparing to Graduate

So, what happens when a student applies to graduate? Learn how you can help students who are in their final semesters. This seminar will look at the role of the Registrar and the role of the advisor in the application to graduate process. It will also look at how degrees are awarded and diplomas are printed. Walk through the process from application, advising notes, commencement, and beyond.

Ethics in Advising: Perceptions of Students, Staff, and Faculty

In spring, 2016, we conducted a study across campus that examined the views of students, staff, and faculty regarding ethical dilemmas in advising. We will present the results of this study, emphasizing the importance of faculty and staff in recognizing ethical dilemmas and dealing with them appropriately.
