Many of us have seen Stephen Sharum delivering the mail around campus every day rain or shine. If you know Stephen at all, you know he is very dedicated to several causes. Stephen’s favorite charity to work for is Watoto Children’s Village in Unganda with a close second being Relay for Life. Watoto is an holistic care program that was initiated as a response to the overwhelming number of orphaned children and vulnerable women in Uganda. It is positioned to rescue an individual, raise each one as a leader in their chosen sphere of life so that that they in turn will rebuild their nation. Stephen is active in raising awareness of this organization as well as helps raise money for their mission. Relay for Life is Stephen’s other passion. You may have seen him on his mail route wearing sandwich board signs raising money and awareness for the MSU Relay for Life teams. He has also been very active in the actual Relay and has participated in the Relay Queen competition several times. For Stephen’s commitment of time and effort to these two charities and other, we recognize Stephen Sharum in the April 2012 Public Affairs Spotlight.
