We are still collecting the last of the shoes that came in over the weekend and expect deliveries from MSU-WP, Drury and SBU still this week, but everyone should be very proud of what we accomplished the past three weeks with the Stomp Out Hunger All Collegiate Shoe Drive! While we did not break a world record, so far, we have collected over 7,500 pairs of shoes! Everyone should be commended for their efforts in this drive. Special thanks to our shoe drop off site coordinators including the University Staff Ambassadors as well as all the volunteers who worked the drop off trailer and ran around campus collecting shoes. With these shoes, we will be able to provide not only shoes to those in need, but fresh water and nutritious food to people around the world. So far, we will have provided for over 15,000 meals!
Plan to join us on Saturday, October 26 at Hammons Field (where the Cardinals play!) to celebrate our efforts. Volunteers are still needed to help with the design layout for the visual representation of the shoes collected (starting at 8 am). At 11 am, there will be a ceremony officially turning the shoes over to Sole Food/Friends Against Hunger. Everyone is welcome to watch and/or help. If you would like to volunteer to help, contact publicaffairssupport@missouristate.edu.
Thank you to everyone who donated shoes or helped in any way!
