To connect – or not connect – that is the question

culture of connectivity

Fri Forjindam Bailey is among the Public Affairs Conference panelists.

What does a NASA engineer, a wedding planner, a college-age entrepreneur and an award winning political blogger have in common? More than one would think as they are among the special guests who will share their knowledge and diverse opinions during this spring’s Public Affairs Conference themed the Culture of Connectivity.

Biographies of each of the keynote speakers and panelists were recently published on the Public Affairs Conference website.

Along with the biographies are the titles and descriptions of each session the panelists will host. Sessions include I don’t know what’s wrong with these kids today!, The culture of pornography: The media age and the changing face of human intimacy and Is connectivity making you dumb? just to name a few.

The site is designed and maintained by the office of web and new media. The publications office assists with editing and placing content.

The Public Affairs Conference will take place on the Missouri State University Campus April 17-20, 2012.

OzarksWatch Schedule Card

The OzarksWatch Schedule Card has a new design. As in the past, the card is stapled into the center spread of October Ozarks Public Television Guide. The new design allows readers to tear off the schedule portion of the card and put it on the fridge, use it as bookmark, etc. Aimee Pong, our student designer, did the design work, using photos provided by the station.

Share Your Christmas 2011

Thanks to the generosity of University Relations, Development and Alumni Relations staff members, one family in the Ozarks will have a very Merry Christmas.

The family, which includes five children, was featured as story #14 in the Springfield News-Leader Share Your Christmas series. The children’s wishes were practical and few. Each will receive everything they asked for on their list, and then some.

Thank you to all who donated, shopped and Shared Your Christmas! Here are the items each child received. We hope they find wearing their BearWear as an inspiration to become a Bear when they grow up!
