Reapplication is that time of the year when our current residents decide if they want to live in the same space they are in now for next year or if they want to move to a different room or if they want to move off-campus. Of course we want them to come back and live with us next year, but we know that’s not feasible….why?
Well Missouri State requires all incoming freshmen who are single and not living with their parents or grandparents and who live more than 60 miles from campus to live on-campus. That’s a bunch of people! So if all of our current students decided to live with us again next year, we wouldn’t have room for you—our incoming residents for the 2009 – 10 academic year!
We typically house around 4000 residents in our halls which vary in size from barely over 100 residents to over 700! Of these 4000 residents, typically around 1500 reapply to live with us the next year. This is a good number for us because we expect about 2500 incoming residents each fall.
We always stress with our returning residents and our new residents the advantages of living on-campus:
–No hassle finding a parking spot each day
–Usually someone cook your meals and cleans the bathrooms (there are some exceptions to this)
–Building lifelong friendships and relationships
–Higher GPA than your counterparts living off-campus
–Access to many resources and opportunities to help you academically and socially
–and the list goes on and on!
We look forward to having our returning students back next year, but we are also looking forward to having you Discover the College Life!
