The SAM concept allows for the evidence around the influence of the school leader on the level of achievement of the students to frame a leaders practice. A common observation from those principals partnering with a SAM is  &quot;what is happening in the classrooms is not what I thought&quot; .     Having authenitic knowledge of classroom practices is a powerful first step in guiding, facilitating and supporting overall school improvement.
