“Celebrate the Creative Moments” – Ozark R-VI School District

The Art and Design Department will feature an exciting exhibit from the Art Education program. Ozark R-VI School District will present “Celebrate the Creative Moments”, a show featuring work by students in grades Kindergarten through High School. This show will celebrate the accomplishments of the students, the instructional abilities of their teachers as well as affirm the importance of art education in our schools and community. The exhibit will showcase two and three-dimensional artwork in a variety of mediums and styles.

The public is invited to explore this “Celebration” exhibit through the eyes of our students.  With the understanding that “Creative Moments” reflect what we know, see, and want to express, the teachers are excited to sponsor this exhibit because art is something everyone can share, young and old.  By supporting the arts through the Missouri Art Education Association, the teachers advocate for quality arts education, support creative teaching and implement best practices in the art education discipline.

Friendship, Business, and Science in 19th-Century Viticulture

George HusmannThis venue brings together two traveling exhibits on George Husmann and Hermann Jaeger, immigrant viticulturists in Missouri. In the late 19th century, Husmann of Hermann, MO, and Jaeger of Neosho worked closely together to improve the quality of native grapes, promote Missouri’s fledging wine industry, and fight the plant diseases of the day that ravaged vineyards at home and abroad, such as black rot and phylloxera.

What Wondrous Life: The World of GeoHermann Jaegerrge Husmann, an Interpretive Exhibit was designed by Linda Walker Stevens, a well-known historian in Hermann, Missouri, and comes to the Student Exhibition Center courtesy of the Deutschheim State Historic Site. Hermann Jaeger, Ozark Grape Hunter: Saving European Vineyards in the 19th Century was produced and funded by Missouri State University and is toured by Discovery Center of Springfield.

The Husmann-Jaeger exhibit is on display at the Student Exhibition Center October 4-28. The opening reception on Friday, October 7, 6:00-10:00 p.m. is free to the public. Light refreshments will be served, and the reception will include a brief program by local historians.
