On Saturday, October 23, it was announced that the Student Body ratified the proposed amendments to the Student Government Association’s Constitution.
Of the votes cast during the Homecoming Elections, 1066 were in favor of ratification, 193 were opposed, and 2232 abstained from voting.
A majority of votes cast on the issue in favor of the Constitution were necessary for ratification as outlined in Article X: “This Constitution shall be fully ratified after its passage by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of Senate seats filled, after its passage by a majority of the student body votes in a referendum, and after it is signed by the President of Missouri State University and approved by the Board of Governors. Future Constitutions must be ratified in like manner.”
