About Sierra Club

“When we contemplate the whole globe as one great dewdrop, striped and dotted with continents and islands, flying through space with other stars all singing and shining together as one, the whole universe appears as an infinite storm of beauty.”

John Muir (founder of Sierra Club), Travels in Alaska, Chapter 1, page 5 (1915 AD).

We members of Sierra Club at Missouri State University form a group of fun-loving, passionate individuals who care deeply about our planet. At the same time, we are casual and relaxed in our interactions.

We believe in having a good time while improving the sustainability of our campus; the community of Springfield, Missouri; and the greater world beyond our immediate surroundings.

Our club is a sub-chapter of the White River Group Missouri Chapter. Both organizations adhere to the tenets of the national Sierra Club.

We meet Wednesday evenings at 5:00 pm in Temple Hall.
