Thank you all. What a day! I would like to personally thank Jake, Tyler, John, Libby, Liz, Bridget, Sarah, and Marissa.

We managed to reclaim 900 recyclables. A great effort as well seeing that we received 3 bins of crushed aluminum. The Greeks like to drink.

The Bear Fest was larger than any other, by far, but our costumes raised awareness. Thank you for the volunteerism.

October crammed full of Fall fun across campus

October brings a bagful of treats and events! For starters, this week is fall break (October 15-16). Or, as we students call it, The Long Weekend. We wish it was longer.

Later this month, we’re holding a stenciling fiesta to lively up our recycling bins. Last and best, there’s Halloween Homecoming 2009 on October 31, with a costumed recycling gig during the tailgate party at Bearfest Village.

Our mellow-hearted, steady-souled president, Clay, or I will bring you updates soon. Meanwhile, here’s a teaser. Come Halloween, you might see a blue ox and his woodsman roaming about the parking lot across from Plaster Sports Complex.

Free pizza at Bearfest Village, September 26

As you may or may not know, we are going to be working Bearfest Village this weekend. Some of you may be leaving town to go to the Green Festival in St. Louis, or possibly heading out for a weekend of hiking and camping before it gets frigid, or maybe you are going to Bluesfest in Columbia.

Whatever you may be doing won’t change the fact that Domino’s is giving away a coupon for a free medium pizza, anytime, anyplace, to the first 500 students that arrive at Bearfest Village. As in the case of the past two weekends, there hasn’t been more than 200 students, so come out to help and get a free coupon, maybe two . . .

Shine on. Peace.

What a successful float trip! Epically fantastic . . .

Despite the loss of a digital camera, keys, a waterproof disposable camera, death to a phone, and a very soggy but successful Viking costume, our past float trip was one to be considered as ‘the glory days’.

Epically fantastic, if I may!

So here is a thank you to all who were in attendance. The first of many trips to come.

Thanks also go out to those who helped at Bearfest Village: John, Libby, Erin, Maddi, Anthony, Tyler, Bridget, Lauren, Boone, Sara, Nicole, Jake, Cassie, Matt, and you if I forgot you. Your help made it one of the better Bearfests in my experience.

Because of our increased presence, sorting and digging for recyclables wasn’t nearly as stomach-turning as it could be. Thank you.

Let’s do it again this weekend and unite our club and the world even stronger.

Peace and Love,
Clay
President

As the new president of our Sierra Club. . .

However long overdue my thank-you is, I would like to gratefully accept my nomination and election to the presidency of the Sierra Club.

I would like to thank my predecessors, Steve Richter, Paul Mejia, and Steven Kramer, who displayed excellence in leadership. As well, I would like to thank our club’s regular members.

I am excited to be part of the cabinet of members who were also duly elected to their office: Jacob Berger as the Vice President, Tyler Stewart as Treasurer, Libby Donohue as Secretary, and Ellen Matheny as our Campaign Director.

I appreciate everybody’s commitment to this organization, volunteerism, and sustaining our social circle. These three points are what I expect to encourage out of myself, and I will try to lead in a manner that will be exciting and fun and beneficial to ourselves, the community, and the world.

Your new president,
Clay Bailey
