Mitch Hauschildt came into the second year, ATC 241 class on Monday 2.11.13 as a guest speaker on foot orthotics. Mitch is currently serving in his 6th year as the Prevention, Rehab, and Physical Performance Coordinator for all 16 sports at Missouri State University. He prepared a lecture for these students utilizing his knowledge of performance enhancement and sports medicine in the coordination of rehabilitation and injury prevention goals.
Students first watched as Mitch performed a foot evaluation, pointing out things that are considered for foot orthotics. After that, several students volunteered for a gait analysis. The class was able to identify important foot and leg bio-mechanics that contributed to gait patterns.
This lecture was part of the second year practicums’ exploration into lower body bracing, splinting, and fitting procedures.
