Purpose of Series
The purpose of this blog series is to provide a review of a specific Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) Standards that apply to clinical education and demonstrate how the MSU AT Program is complying with each standard. The series concept was developed and will be written by Dr. Allan Liggett, Clinical Coordinator and it is designed as a review for preceptors, faculty/staff, and students.

The CATEE Standard we will focus on in this series reads as follows: ‘All sites where students are involved in patient care or observation-only experience (excluding the Program’s sponsoring institution) must have an affiliation agreement…’

Explanation of CAATE Standard Compliance
Students obtaining clinical experience hours at the above sites addresses the CAATE Standard as previously stated. Students may obtain additional educational experiences at other sites, however, these experiences should be approved by the AT Program Director, Clinical Coordinator, or Practicum Instructor prior to the student completing observational hours.
Do you have an idea for a new clinical education affiliated site? Let us know!
Please feel free to recommend sites to the AT Program that you believe would be valuable educational experiences for the students.
