Sports Medicine and Athletic Training (SMAT) department faculty member Kristin Tivener recently wrote a literature review which was published in the latest issue of the Athletic Training Education Journal. The literature review was on high-fidelity simulation in athletic training. Kristin explains, “high-fidelity simulation is something that is still new in the athletic training world. I specifically wrote this literature review in order to provide athletic trainers and athletic training students with a basic understanding of this tool.”
The article answers ‘what is high-fidelity simulation?’ and then provides a detailed history of the evolution of this tool including its roots and progression in both medical and non-medical fields. The article concludes with an application to athletic training education and anticipated future trends.
Currently, all undergraduate SMAT students participate in high-fidelity simulation before they complete the athletic training program. For more information, contact Kristin Tivener at KTivener@MissouriState.edu
