This past weekend, Sports Medicine and Athletic Training (SMAT) Department faculty Dr. David Carr, Dr. Tona Hetzler, Dr. Michael Hudson, and Dr. Allan Liggett braved the winter weather and traveled to Dallas, Texas for the 2015 Athletic Training Educators’ Conference (ATEC). The ATEC is one of the largest conferences for athletic training educators, program directors, preceptors, and clinical coordinators.
Two SMAT faculty members were invited to present at this year’s ATEC conference.
Dr. Michael Hudson was invited for an oral presentation which was designed to help attendees develop their writing skills and manuscript productivity. Dr. Hudston states “attendees participated in some general writing activities as well as some editing activities consistent with current AMA Manual of Style guidelines.” This presentation was sponsored by the Athletic Training Education Journal.
Dr. Tona Hetzler was invited to present a poster on her collaborative research study with SMAT faculty member Kristin Tivener. The focus of this research study was the effects of clickers on athletic training student knowledge and interactivity.
All faculty members found the conference sessions valuable and have returned to campus with new ideas to integrate into their classes.
